Writing project one, the photo essay was by far the most fun to do. I believe so because it involved something that I have a passion for, and that is cars. When the project was originally assigned to us I over thought this and tried to go way above the actual meaning of the assignment. With help from Dr. Wielgos, he had set me on the right path. I first thought about something I liked and that was cars. It was just my luck that my cousin had asked if I wanted to go to a car show the coming weekend. Needless to say I went to the car show and started snapping pictures with my smart phone. There were a lot of cars at this show, from classic muscle to state of the art super cars. After that I had my pictures and my ideas, then I set to work constructing my photo essay. The Finished product was one that I was very happy with. I had put a lot of time and effort into making it look great and I believe that I succeeded in doing so. Little did I know that Dr. Wielgos liked my photo essay so much that he eventually asked me if he could use it as an example. I was pretty surprised! I agreed. Over all I believe that I did very well on the photo essay. It was by far my favorite project all semester.
Writing project two, the visual rhetorical analysis was my second favorite project over all. It was my second favorite because it dealt with looking at the meaning of posters and essentially taking a look "behind" the poster if you will. It also involved one of my other interests, the military. For my analysis I chose to write about world war two propaganda posters. Since I am a veteran of the military, military history is also one of my subjects that I have interest in. This writing project was harder than the last, but I had expected it and planned for it. The textbooks for the class and Dr. Wielgos were very helpful in teaching me and the class on how to conduct visual rhetorical analysis. Within one night of reading the textbook about the subject I thought that I was confident to start my project. By the time I was finished with the assignment it further added to my self esteem in completing a great analysis. Over all I thought that I did well on this project for having not done anything like it before.
Writing project three, the argumentative synthesis paper, started to really test my skills as a writer. I was given all the necessary research by Dr. Wielgos, and our prompts were chosen for us. All I had to do was pick out the important information from the text given to us, and apply it to my argument. At the time I wrote that project it was the hardest I had done in class yet. We were diving deeper into the college writing rabbit hole. After the paper was done I had thought I had done well, but I was missing some required points to make my paper complete. I have now added the required items and the paper is now complete. Over all this paper challenged me as a writer. I and thought to myself about how this was the point of college level classes, to challenge myself and learn from that challenge to make myself a better writer, and communicator.
Writing project four, the researched argument synthesis is the culmination of my time in college writing two. At first it looked like an impossible jump to the end of the semester, but with reassurance from my subconscious I grabbed the assignment by the horns and began to wrestle it to the ground so I could reach the finish line, the end of the semester. This paper was one of the hardest writing projects I have ever had in my college career. Even writing in the military was not this hard in my opinion. I settled down and chose a topic that interested me, that was law enforcement. Since I was military police when I served my time in the military and it made me that man I am today. I have the utmost respect for the men and women in blue who protect our campus and towns across the country. I wanted to highlight an invisible danger that police officers face every time they put on their uniform, and that would be stress. So I set to work researching anything that had to do with stress and law enforcement, and eventually ended up with what I thought I a good strong paper, that my brothers and sisters in uniform would approve of. Overall this was the most difficult project in the entire class but I came out of it intact and better off.
